Bold, graphic, and completely of its moment, this 1931 endpaper design from the French fashion journal Art, Goût, Beauté is a small masterpiece of Art Deco geometric pattern. Cones and partial circles, dark navy on a finely textured cream ground, repeat across the surface in a rhythm that feels simultaneously playful and precise, modern without trying, confident without effort.

Art, Goût, Beauté was one of the most elegant French fashion publications of the interwar period, produced between 1920 and 1933 and known for the exceptional quality of its graphic design, illustration, and typography. Its endpapers were treated as design objects in their own right, commissioned from anonymous designers who understood the visual language of the moment completely. This 1931 example, from the publication's final years, sits at the height of French Art Deco graphic confidence.

The pattern pairs two elemental forms: a solid elongated triangle, tapering to a sharp point at the base like a stalactite or a stylised flame, and a large circle with a wedge removed, creating a pac-man or pie-chart form that reads as both geometric and slightly playful. The two shapes are distributed across the composition in a loose, offset grid, the triangles pointing downward and the partial circles oriented with their missing segment facing upward toward the triangle tips, creating an implied relationship between the two forms without ever quite letting them touch.

The ground is the most visually interesting element on close inspection. Rather than a flat cream, it is built from an all-over texture of tiny cross or asterisk marks, a fine woven or printed textile effect that gives the surface depth and warmth and makes the solid navy forms appear to float above it rather than sit flat upon it.

Reproduced as a Huecraft archival fine art print on premium heavyweight paper with fade-resistant inks, the full textural depth of the ground and the crisp edge of every geometric form are preserved completely. Hang it in a living room or workstation where its graphic energy and Art Deco authority bring immediate visual intelligence to the wall. It pairs beautifully with dark timber, brass, warm white walls, and any interior that values the design confidence of interwar Paris at its most assured.
