Originally produced by the celebrated Calcutta Art Studio at 185 Bowbazar Street between 1880 and 1890, this lithograph presents six circular vignettes of Hindu deities arranged for sandhya puja, the sacred ritual of twilight worship. The artwork pairs each deity with their feminine counterpart, presenting Brahma with Saraswati, Vishnu with Lakshmi, and Shiva with Parvati, each seated in meditative grace against glowing amber and coral grounds.

The Calcutta Art Studio was among the first Indian publishing houses to bring chromolithography to devotional art, making sacred imagery accessible to households across Bengal and beyond. Their prints were not merely decorations; they were objects of daily veneration, placed on home altars and offered flowers and incense. This particular composition, titled "Sankokt Deb Debi Murti" in the original Bengali script at the foot of the sheet, translates broadly as "The Condensed Forms of Gods and Goddesses" and was designed specifically as a guide for evening household worship.

The colour palette is a study in the warmth of temple interiors: saffron, vermilion, deep teal, ivory pearl, and burnished gold. The circular framing of each deity recalls the traditional chakra mandala, while the flat, jewel-bright tones are distinctly characteristic of the Kalighat and early Calcutta chromolithograph tradition.

Reproduced here as a museum-grade archival fine art print on heavyweight cotton-rag paper, every detail of the original is preserved with faithful colour accuracy, from the fine Sanskrit-script annotations beneath each figure to the aged cream ground of the composition.
